5 Ways to Celebrate International Friendship Day

"A friend is one who overlooks your broken fence and admires the flowers in your garden."

Where would we all be without our friends? They really are the family we choose for ourselves. The people we lean on for advice, laughs and comfort. That's why we're so happy there is an entire day dedicated to celebrating our besties.

Saturday 30 July marks International Day of Friendship, which provides the perfect chance to show your friends just how much they mean to you, or simply dedicate some quality time together.

You may be wondering what to do to celebrate this day, so we've put together some ideas to give you some inspiration...

1. Send a gift!

Okay, maybe a slightly obvious one but really, how often do we give gifts to our friends outside of birthdays and christmases? Giving someone a gift and seeing the smile on their face is such a lovely feeling and will make their day.

And you don't have to spend lots of money either. There are tonnes of small independent businesses out there eager for your support. We love Etsy as it has so many options and you can determine your budget. Just search 'Gifts for friend under £xx.xx' and you will be spoilt for choice.

Alternatively, why not treat them to a box of cocktails? What better way to say 'I love you'? And they may even let you share ;)! Check out our range here.

2. Organise a soirée

Do you really need an excuse for a party? Get the gang together, throw on a delicious spread and enjoy some quality time together. Have fun deciding on a theme for your get-together, anything from a high tea, to a Mexican fiesta, the options are endless.

Check out Amazon for a range of fun decorations and games to make your event extra special and of course, don't forget the cocktails! You can take the lead role as mixologist or have fun making them together with our easy DIY cocktail kits.

3. Write a letter

Putting pen to paper can really help express your feelings and show someone how much they mean to you. There is something so special about receiving a hand-written letter, so put the effort, pick up some pretty stationary and get writing!

4. Secret friendsta

Everyone loves Secret Santa, so why wait for Christmas? Throw your names in and chose someone to buy a gift for, arrange a get-together to exchange gifts and watch everyones faces light up!

5. Play a friendship quiz!

See how much you really know each other with a friendship quiz. You can play in person, over Zoom, or simply create one online and share the link with your friends. Here is a website you could use. Play for a bit of fun or make it more interesting with some prizes.

There are plenty more ways you can celebrate this day, and at the very least, a simple message to your friends to show them you love them will go a long way!

Enjoy, friends x
